The muzzle loading range is primarily to shoot muzzle loaded firearms. Only muzzle-loading firearms, rim-fire and pellet rifles, and rim-fire/pellet pistols are allowed on this range.
It has seen some big improvements in 2023. The club approved the rebuilding of the pavilion. 4-H Shooting Sports provided the labor for building the pavilion. Many thanks to 4-H for the hundreds of volunteer hours spent on this project, Jeff Berendzen Construction Services for providing management services, There was also volunteer work provided by club members Dave Scott, Vern McGraffic, Todd Walters, and Gregg Pearre. Thanks all for the help provided to give the club a great pavilion while keeping cost low.
In 2023, 4-H Shooting Sports received a $32,000 grant to benefit the United Sportsman Club. This grant was granted from the MidwayUSA Foundation was used to improve the muzzle-loading range and promote youth shooting sports. The range was flattened to approximately a 3% slope, the length increased to 103 yards and the berms rebuilt to meet NRA recommendations. This project was completed on March 6, 2024 by Twehous Excavating Company.
